Hello to all on this great Monday morning! Hope you are all ready to jump into a new week with vim and vigor!!
(what is "vim" besides a cleaning product? Well, it means "with strength; enthusiasm").
So, what does your week hold for you? I have a lot of meetings this week and so I will be coming into contact with a lot of people. Last week, I encountered a lady who really just needed to be heard. Do we really listen? There are a lot of people who need your ear.
How do we really listen? There is the listening in order to fix or to interject our own thoughts and ideas. In that sort of listening, we are really listening to ourselves. Then there is the more focused listening. That is where I sit down with you, face to face, and really listen. I really want to hear what you have to say. But more than that, I want to hear your heart. I'm also watching your body language to catch different signals.
How many of us really take to the time to really hear someone? Think about how good it feels to really be heard and understood and try extending that to someone else. Can I encourage you this week to try really listening to one person? It takes practise but like most things, you will get better and better at it. And I know for a fact that the world could use more good listeners!
