Done and Done!

Another Monday has arrived and all day I have been asking myself: what do I want to blog about today?
Most of my other blogs have been 'God-inspired'. He often gives me something early in the morning or the evening before but this time, it was silent. So all day I have been racking my brain on what to write about and then it hits me. I've been counting on me and didn't even think to ask God.

I had to laugh when I figured it out because I almost felt God smile and say: You got it! Why is it that we try so hard to figure things out on our own when God is just waiting for us to ask Him?

Is there something in your life right now that you have been working hard to fix or to figure out? Are you feeling frustrated and not sure where to go with it next? Can I suggest that your next plan be down on your knees and seeking your Heavenly Father? He LOVES to give us good things and He is the ultimate solution-giver.

The proof is right here before you - a blog!! Done and done! Have an amazing week filled with rich blessings and 'God solutions'.

The Difference Makes all the Difference

Happy Monday morning, to all my amazing Blogites out there! As we dive into a new week, this phrase came to me:
The difference makes all the difference.

I thought about it for awhile and here's my thoughts: We are all different - there has never been another you and there never will be another you. You were born at this time for purpose. You are not here by accident and you are not you by accident. You have all that you need inside of you right now to live out the life that God is calling you to.

Our differences are what make us unique! What I hear often in my coaching is this: I want to be a _______________ (fill in the blank with some occupation/career) but everyone's doing it. Recently I was talking to someone who loves photography but again, there was these phrases: with the new digital cameras and phones now, everyone can be a photographer. There are so many people doing it, there's no market for it. With these sorts of thoughts and words, you have already defeated yourself. I know several photographers but their work is so individual. Each person has different ideas and perspectives and so you could get six different photographers with six VERY different bodies of work.

What is it that you would love to do? What are some things that you're really great at? No one will ever do something just like you. Remember that. Don't rob the world of the gifts inside of you. If you don't express them, no one else can because they're not you. Your difference makes the difference so get out there and show us your brilliance!

But God....

Good Monday morning! It's a beautiful fall day as we head into a new week. I know that I often sound happy but I also know that sometimes life can be a real challenge.

Lately I have been challenged both personally and in my career. I am feeling sort of stagnant and stale. Not a great place to be. Yesterday I was watching a documentary on foreign policies between the States and Egypt (and yes, I DID find it interesting...) and at one point, they showed a large view of the Sinai - very bleak and desert-like and all the same yellowy, sandy color. I saw that picture and thought to myself: that's how I've been feeling lately - colorless.

So, this morning I sat and spent time with God. I asked Him questions and He reaffirmed to me that with Him, ALL things are possible. With Him, things that look bleak can quickly turn around and become exciting and colorful.

So when I ask myself how certain things are going to happen, I know that I can't make them happen BUT GOD.... With everything in my life, I can say: I can't but God....

Can I encourage you today to remember that when things aren't going your way or you feel powerless, remember that maybe we can't change things but God.... He can and does. He loves us and has good things planned for us in every area of our lives.

If you're in a bleak place right now, hang in there! God is bigger than our biggest challenge.

Who are You Going to Serve?

Good morning!! I know it's Wednesday but Monday was a holiday and Tuesday was a bit of a write-off so here I am!

How are you all? I know that I have been lax with my blogs over the summer and that probably won't end. I love lazy summers and lots of holidaying. However, having said that, it is now officially fall time - this is the first day that the kids go back to school and so I also start to seriously jump back into my stuff as well.

My word for all of you today came to me last week. I was just waking up in the morning and God asked me, "who are you going to serve today?". An interesting question. I find that in my busy life, I am often thinking of me. Our society very much promotes thinking about ourselves and doing good things for ourselves. While I am an advocate of good self care, I am glad that God reminds me of the things in my life that are really important and the bigger picture.

In our lives, we live with others and if we live alone, we deal with others where we work, go to school, etc. The bottom line: God values people - not just you and me but everyone. Yesterday, after supper, we read a devotional and were discussing how we can be less judgemental and one of the things that was brought up was to remember that ALL of us have been created in God's image. Every single person you will ever see or come in contact with has been created in the image of God!! When this is on my mind, I find it easier to serve that person. Our powerful and loving Creator has seen fit to put a piece of himself into all of us. An awe-inspiring thought indeed!

And dear friend, having said that, I want to continue to serve you by writing you encouraging notes each week for you, too, have been created in God's image. You not only carry His image but think about what others wonderful things He has endowed you with!! You are already amazing because of who you've been modelled after. Let's take those incredible attributes and ask ourselves: who am I going to serve today with the great things God has given me?
