Your Values

Happy Monday morning! Another week to explore and find out more good things about who you are!

Last week I talked about values and what they are. Today I want to talk about how you can discover some of your values. If I were to coach you, I would probably start by asking you: what were some really impacting experiences in your life? They could be either positive or negative but very memorable.
For example, I coached someone who was very unhappy in his job   Instead of focusing on the tasks, we focused on how he felt when at work and why. He came to the realization that he really did enjoy what he did but didn't like the office politics. This young man is a straight shooter and found it exhausting trying to play the games. His value here that was being compromised was integrity. He valued it very highly in himself and in others. He often felt like he couldn't be totally honest and had to hold back.

So try and think of some experiences in your life - they can be past or present, good or bad. And ask yourself what in that experience was impacting and why. You will start to dig out your own values. Just as a little aside here: we are all different and so we will all have different values. Don't feel like you have to have values that you think others want you to have. Let's dig down deep and find out who you really are and what you value. That's what makes you wonderful and unique.

Next Monday there will be no blog. I will be in Mexico soaking up the sun. So until next time, value who you are!

Values

Good Monday morning! What great things does this week hold for you?

Today I want to talk about values. You might have heard the word - it's one of those buzz words flying around out there but what does it really mean?

Well, your values are not your morals or your ethics. Your values are inside of you. How do you know what they are? When you are living what you truly believe, you will feel a sense of peace. A value is not something like money or your career. Although you might want more money and that might be part of a value system that is who you are but the money, in and of itself, is not the value. In your job or career, you might really love what you do and that is because you are able to live at least some of your values through what you do.

At this point you might feel more confused by what your values are or aren't and that's okay. They are intangibles. Just know that you DO carry values inside of you and next week, I will be talking about how to discover some of those values and to name them.

Until then, hope your week is wonderful and  know that you are INVALUABLE!

Priorities

Good Monday morning! I hope everyone is ready to jump into their week with vim and vinegar!

Today I thought I'd talk about priorities. We all have them but how often do we live them? A good thing to think about. What's really important to you in your life? What do you value highly? Your children? Your significant other? Your career? Your education?

Let's use our imaginations for a minute and think about our funerals. Yes, a little morbid for a Monday morning but indulge me. Have you ever taken a few minutes to sit and think: what would I like people to say about me at my funeral? It's something that I've thought about and I think the biggest thing for me would be "she loved well". I want to love people around me; I want them to
know that they are loved and valued. I want them to know that they are important - not just to me but here, in this world.
I want to be remembered for being there for people when they are in a hard place. At the end of my life, people are not going to care about how many degrees I have hanging on my walls or how much money I have in the bank but about how I affected their lives and somehow made their lives just a little better.

That's my hope. What's yours? Take a few minutes today and think about what you would like people to say about you and then start putting it into action. Just a little change in habit or thought and the wheels will start rolling. Don't wait until you are actually at your own funeral - by then it's too late. Be the person that you want to be starting today. Small changes lead to a big life!

More Clean Eating - Amazing Eggs!

Another wonderful week to jump into! Hope everyone is doing well today.

Today I'm going to talk about eggs. Bernard Jensen calls eggs 'the perfect protein'. The story of high cholesterol in eggs is this. Eggs are high in cholesterol but what food contains the highest amount of lecithin? The egg yoke. The lecithin in the yoke breaks down and dissolves the cholesterol to balance it in the bloodstream. If you fry eggs, you ruin the lecithin but if you fry anything, you ruin the lecithin leaving only the cholesterol. So a slowly boiled egg is your best bet. Then you maintain that balance and you are eating a healthy egg and getting a great source of protein (approx. 6 grams).

Also, your little egg is packed with iron, vitamins - good for your heart and your immune system! Each egg is about 70 to 80 calories, depending on the size. So low in calories and high in the good stuff - a great friend and not just at breakfast time. I know people who take cold boiled eggs to work and eat them for a snack. Just try and be subtle and eat it quickly - cold boiled eggs give off a certain odor...

Now what kind of eggs to buy: there are so many varieties to choose from. I have tried the Omega 3 eggs and they taste like fish to me. Yuck!! But if you like fish and eggs, you might enjoy these. I usually buy the organic free-range. They are a little pricier but I don't buy a lot of meat so this works for me. White and brown eggs have the same health benefits. The only reason they are different colors is because they are from different chickens.

So, boiled eggs for breakfast, a nice big omelette for supper loaded with veggies and cheese, an egg for your afternoon snack. Try to work eggs into your diet. They're healthy little guys and give you a good energy hit as well!

Have a wonderful and healthy week!
